Check-In process is the following:
-All players in attendance
-Coaches have your "team books" (including birth certificates, player waivers & roster with jersey #'s, player name and birthdates on the roster). This is VERY IMPORTANT!
-All players will weigh-in and receive their arm-band which is to be worn all weekend long. Players MUST repeat process if arm-band isn't on.
-Coaches MUST sign-in to receive "Pass".
For every team's safety and to ensure everyone attending has an incredible positive experience we thoroughly background every single team and coach attending. We also thoroughly check out every player on every team during our weigh-in, we pride ourselves on this for safety of the players. In 2010 expect the team/player check-in process to be even more thorough!
We pride ourselves on fair match-ups, we set the brackets based on skill and size (in that order) in all age divisions. We have the more competitive teams playing each other and the less competitive teams playing each other right out of the gate. We want every single team, player, cheerleader, coach, parent & spectator to have a great time at our events. WE CATER TO EVERYONE BUT FAVOR NO ONE. We strongly believe in a fair playing field as our event is all about the kids and their safety. We expect every single adult and coach to act like a great role model for our kids. We DO NOT TOLERATE any unruly behavior out of anyone, you'll be asked to leave w/ no chance of ever returning to one of our events. Please read below to find out how you to can be a part of the action in these can't miss events!!! We go out of our way to make sure everyone has a great time.
You'll find our weight limits at our events higher than the normal. This is because we don't won't a team to not come over a few pound weight difference. Most every single team that annually attends has a much smaller weight than what we use at our event. Keep in mind we do matchup everyone as fair as possible. If you're a smaller low weight restricted team then don't worry we set the brackets to where you play teams close to your size as possible uness you request otherwise. In some cases you may play an unlimited team but rest assured that age is FAR more important than size at the youth level and we will guarantee you that all teams accepted in the events are playing with a legit roster!
Format
Two game minimum guarantee per team (very possible you could play more than two games), we try to make sure all teams who win at least one game will play a third game, usually this happens unless a team receives a bye. Each age division will be played in a true tournament modified single elimination format w/ consolation games taking place. Our friendly but competitive format is one of many things that separate us among other tournaments. You won't have to beat the same team twice to claim a title nor will there be 5 teams at the same age leaving as "Champions". By using this format it allows only one team per age group to be crowned champions (per division), only one team leaves undefeated and only one team leaves runner up (per division). We check out every single player on every single team thoroughly during our check-in, all players must have their birth certificates w/ them at weigh-in, NO EXCEPTIONS! We believe in a fair playing field at the Battle In Rocky Top. Two games is the most a team would play in a day and four games is the most they would play over the weekend. No team will play back to back games, there will be at least a two game (more than likely more) rest for all teams.
We are having a magazine sized "Event Program" for everyone's viewing and memories of the great event. In the program will be a list of teams, players and brief info about the teams among other things. You will want to definitely pick one of the up during the event.
LINE WEIGHT IS UNLIMITED IN ALL AGES (UNLESS THE DIVISION IS MARKED RESTRICTED). IF WE HAVE ENOUGH TEAMS PER AGE DIVISION WE'LL HAVE TWO DIVISIONS INSIDE ONE AGE GROUP. EXAMPLE: WE'LL PLACE THE UNLIMITED WEIGHT (BIGGER) TEAMS IN ONE BRACKET AND THE RESTRICTED WEIGHT (SMALLER) TEAMS IN THE OTHER (AGAIN - IF WE HAVE ENOUGH TEAMS). EITHER WAY WE PAIR YOU UP AS FAIR AS POSSIBLE, SO IF YOUR A LIGHTWEIGHT TEAM THEN DON'T WORRY WE'LL GET YOU TAKEN CARE OF, WE GOT A FAIR SPOT FOR YOU. IF YOUR OVER THE SKILL PLAYER MAX WEIGHT THAN YOU MUST PLAY ON THE LINE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL. IF YOUR OVER THE SKILL PLAYER MAX WEIGHT YOU CANNOT AT ANY TIME RECEIVE THE FOOTBALL. IF A "HEAVY" PLAYER RECOVERS A FUMBLE THE BALL IS DEAD AT POINT OF RETURN (YOUR TEAM DOES GAIN POSSESSION).
We use the same age cut-off for all divisions. August 1st is the age cut-off for each age division. (age example of the 10 & under: if your team is made up of kids 10 and younger w/ kids turning 11 after Aug. 1st, then you still compete in the 10u division). We understand certain leagues have different age cut-offs. We do work with everyone as best as possible, give us a call or email and see where your team fits in age wise, we'll be glad to tell you. We do accept grade oriented teams. Division example, if your team is made up of 10, 11 & 12 year olds then you'll compete in the 12u division.
We want every team playing in the proper division, that's why we ask for a roster from every attending team prior to attending the event, we triple check out the birth dates on the roster to ensure you're in a fair age division, then we check the roster to the birth certificates on arriving at the event.
IN ALL AGE DIVISIONS NATIONAL FEDERATION HIGH SCHOOL RULES APPLY W/ THE EXCEPTION OF A FEW MINOR THINGS. Each game is made up of four - ten minute quarters. Two timeouts per half per team. We use a modiefied clock except the last two minutes of each half (runs regulation then). Clock does stop on all scores and timeouts. We use the modified clock so we can fit in all the games. This let's you play more games and teams (if your winning). With the clock this way each game runs between 65 - 80 minutes.
